Activities
Golfing
Many top class golfing facilities
are available in the region such as Ballybunion, Doonbeg, Killarney, Lahinch
and Adare. Other golfing facilities of merit in the area include Tralee,
Dingle, Newcastlewest, Kilrush, Kilkee and Listowel golf courses.
Fishing
For those interested in sea angling
the Keldun house provides the best base for sampling either the shore or
boat fishing available in the area. Tarbert Island piers offer a variety of
species including flounder, plaice, ray, bass, and conger eel. Elsewhere
there are many other fishing hotspots in neighbouring towns of Glin and
Ballylongford. A quick trip across the Shannon on the Tarbert-Killimer ferry
will also find you in the centre of many other excellent sea angling
locations such as Cappa, Doolin and Bridges of Ross. If you prefer coarse
fishing then salmon & seatrout fishing on the waters of the North Kerry
Anglers Association is a short distance away on the river Feale. Get in
contact with the Listowel fishing club to arrange a visit on this renowned
river which is well capable of producing plenty double figure fish.
Riding
Shannon View Equestrian Centre
Located adjacent to The Keldun house this excellent facility is ideal for
everyone from beginners to the more advanced among you. They provide
escorted treks through the picturesque countryside along the scenic routes.
The centre boasts a full range of facilities including an outdoor arena,
tack room, club room, full and half livery and riding lessons along with
well schooled horses and ponies to name but a few.
Clonshire Equestrian Centre
is also available at Adare. It is a reasonable distance from The Keldun
house. Clonshire caters for those with a taste for dressage and polo.
Walking
Only a few metres from the door of Keldun House begins Tarbert House Woodland Walk.
This 3.8 mile walk through the mature wood takes in a number of interesting
sites such as Tarbert Bridewell and Tarbert House which was built in 1680.
The wood which consists of over twenty species of trees is home to a wide
variety of wildlife and makes the perfect venue for a relaxing stroll. Seats
have been installed at scenic points throughout the walk to add to its

Tarbert
is located right at the River
Shannon, offering not only a number of
lovely walks
along the banks of the river but also great angling possibilities.
The village of Tarbert is home to eight pubs and two restaurants all of
which are within a short distance of Keldun House. Enright's restaurant on
the same street as Keldun House is a family run establishment which offers a
quality menu seven days a week.

Tarbert Bridewell Experience justice in the
19th. century
The system and network of Bridewells in the 19th. century formed the main
element in the administration of justice in Ireland at that time. Using the
story of a man arrested for stealing to feed his family, the Tarbert
Bridewell Courthouse and Jail tells the story of this system.

Glin Castle

is situated just 2 miles from Keldun House.This magnificent building, still
owned by Sir Fitzgerald Knight of Glin, and its splendid gardens are a sight
to behold.The castle, overlooking the river Shannon dates back to the 18th
century and has a long and varied history.Tours are available all summer
long but book early to avoid disappointment

Foynes Flying Boat Museum
recalls the area when Foynes was the
centre of the aviation world from 1939 to 1945 being the fulcrum port for
air traffic between Europe and the United States.
